On a day where theatres in the UK are currently closed due to the current Coronavirus situation it seems like a funny thing to do to be writing this blog post. Writing this post at the end of May when theatres have now been closed for nearly two months and having no shows going on and a lot of work cancelled seems pretty ironic to me.

A little background on me, I started working in theatre when I was only 14 years old. Doing lighting for a small Amateur Dramatics company for their junior show that was performed to approximately 150 people for two shows starting small scale led me to find my passion for theatre. This one evening and one day taught me a lot about theatre from walking in with only marginal knowledge I walked out with a lot of experience and a passion that I have never had for anything before. This one show led me onto another, this next show was called Kindertransport and was being performed to 320 people for 3 nights, every night was a sell out, so the pressure was on to do a good job. These shows all went well so that then led me on to do the company’s Christmas pantomime. The Christmas pantomime is a big deal for this company so this then taught me a lot about how to stick to deadlines and how to deal with time constraints and I then worked through this and more and more shows came after this until I am now at a point where I am today where I am working for myself and in a position where I can work independently and still stick to deadlines and design and run a show all off my own back.
